There certainly have been a lot of changes for the Packers on their roster. This will be a different team in 2022. The biggest change was of course the blockbuster trade of Davante Adams in which no one expected him to not be on the team this year. When looking at the Packers current roster, they only have a true hole at wide receiver. It is a very big hole, especially with Davante Adams gone. Yet, outside of wide receiver, the Packers currently have a very talented roster that is good enough to compete for a Super Bowl. The Packers currently have top five NFL roster and here is why.
Packers Have a Good Offensive Line That Will Be Back At Full Strength This Year
In 2020, the Packers had the number one scoring offense in the NFL. Most of that was due to the offensive line that had two pro bowlers and the best center in football. In 2021, changes came but mostly injuries plagued the offensive line with numerous changes in the lineup. David Bakhtiari was recovering from a torn ACL and ended up playing only one game. Elgton Jenkins tore his ACL mid season, which was a big blow to the offensive line. There was also rookies and inexperienced players in the lineup. This year the offensive line will be back at full strength especially with Bakhtiari and Jenkins returning to the lineup. This will indeed help the offense be even better this season.
Packers Have Four All Pros On Defense
The Packers defense is looking very promising this year. It will certainly be a strength going. It is a very talented group on that side of the ball. In addition, they have four all pros on defense. Those are De’Vondre Campbell, Rasul Douglas, Jaire Alexander, and Kenny Clark. All four will be returning starters and now familiar with Joe Barry’s system. I expect them to have major impact for the Packers defense. With all of these four players on defense the Packers have potential to be the best defenses in the NFL.
Still Have The Duo Of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillion At Running Back
All the worry is about the Packers current wide receiving core. However the Packers still have the duo of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillion. With Davante Adams no longer on the team and a new look receiving group, the run game will be used more. Both Jones and Dillion will bring a balance of speed and power to the Packers running game. Aaron Jones will gash defenses as AJ Dillion will wear them out in the fourth quarter. Both also will be used more in the passing game as well to open up the Packers offense even more. Expect heavy dose of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillion this season.
The Packers Secondary Currently Might Be the Best In the NFL
The Packers secondary looks to be sneaky good this year. It starts with Jaire Alexander, who is becoming a shut down corner and will be back after missing most of 2021 with a serious shoulder injury. On the other side is Eric Stokes, who showed a lot of promise as a rookie. Then Rasul Douglas, who was just resigned with team. Add in Darnell Savage and Adrian Amos at safety, the Packers really can have the best secondary in the NFL.
Packers Look To Have Dominant Pass Rush This Year
The Packers did lose a dominant pass rusher in Zadarius Smith. However they have their 2019 first round pick in Rashan Gary. He had a breakout season in 2021 and will look to build on that this year. Preston Smith is on the other side as he had a bounce back season and signed a long term deal with the Packers. In the interior, the Packers All-Pro Kenny Clark who is just entering his prime. Dean Lowry had a great 2021 season and is returning to the team this year. TJ Slaton showed flashes as a rookie and will be expected to make a second year jump. Also, the addition of Jarran Reed from the Kansas City Chiefs will help with the interior pass rush. Watch out for the Packers pass rush this year.
