While this season has been disappointing overall, the Packers have some fun young players. Quay Walker and Christian Watson look like future stars. Romeo Doubs and Zach Tom have the potential to be key parts of this team long-term. While there is a lot of excitement about these players, the Packers coaches are excited about the development of a player who has not seen the field this season. Packers OC Adam Stenavich is “really excited” about undrafted rookie Caleb Jones.

Adam Stenavich On Caleb Jones
Jones was recently activated to the 53-man roster. He caught many people’s eyes in the preseason and for a good reason. Jones stands 6 feet 9 inches and at the time was 370 pounds. He was hard to miss on the field. He was a very raw prospect and was delegated to the practice squad for most of the season. With David Bakhtiari being out, the Packers needed another lineman on the roster and the coaching staff thinks Jones might be ready. He has become much leaner and is down to 335 pounds. Stenavich is excited to see him out on the field.
Developing Future Linemen
The Packers’ offensive line could look very different next year. Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkin’s future with the Packers are up in the air. Yosh Nijman is a restricted free agent and it is unclear how much it will take to sign him. The Packers are planning for the future with Caleb Jones. If Jones can develop, having a 6 foot 9, 330-pound tackle protecting the blindside of the quarterback would be massive. The Packers have a history of developing linemen so there is a good chance that Jones develops into a solid player.
The fact that Adam Stenavich took time in the press conference to talk about Caleb Jones says something about what he thinks of the rookie. It will be interesting to see if Jones gets any playing time in the last four weeks of the season.
