Green Bay Packers hosted Isaiah Simmons last week and now, they’re making him officially part of the team by signing him to a one-year contract.

Simmons visiting and working with Packers personnel was previously regarded as good move by fans and critics as the linebacker is expected to fortify the team’s defensive set-up.
Reports say the Packers are still hopeful that Simmons still has the athletic ability that made him a Top 8 pick in the 2020 NFL draft.
Simmons was the Butkus Award winner as the nation’s top linebacker in his junior year at Clemson, but that production did not carry over to the field early in his NFL career. He started most of his three seasons with the Cardinals before they traded him to the Giants. In those three seasons, Simmons had four interceptions, two fumble recoveries and 7.5 sacks. The Packers might be hoping to tap into his athletic potential in a blitz scheme that utilizes linebackers to rush the passer.

How did Isaiah Simmons fare with previous teams?
Although he did not play like an eighth pick in the past seasons, his best asset is still his youth.
Simmons is only 26 years old and entering his fifth season already.
Some Green Bay Packers fans are banking on that.
Isaiah Simmons was obviously good enough at one point to warrant being a top-10 draft pick. I don’t know where he’s going to fit in the Packers’ defense, but trust Jeff Hafley and his staff to figure it out with a player that talented. Very low-risk, potentially high-reward.

He had a good start with the Arizona Cardinals, playing 16 games (seven starts) in his rookie season.
He then earned the starting role in his second season, finishing third in Cardinals with 105 tackles, 1.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and seven passes disrupted.

His numbers dipped in 2023 and by the end of that season, he became a free agent and signed with the New York Giants.
He was not as productive as he was in the earlier season, seeing his snaps go down to 181 from 377 in 2023.
