Green Bay Packers’ Elgton Jenkins made the headlines for the wrong reason recently and some fans are worried because he also missed some of the team’s initial offseason activity. They are worried because he will be moving from guard to center this season.
General manager Brian Gutekunst suggested back in March that the team should not feel the loss of Josh Myers that much as Jenkins will fill in his role as a center for the team. He has the confidence, too, that the 29-year-old will be great at it.
He even thinks that Jenkins’ game and status will be elevated in that position.
“We feel he’s got a chance to be an All-Pro center,” the GM said during an appearance in front of Green Bay reporters on Monday.

“We’ve talked about it a lot, how versatility plays into our offensive line and having guys that can move to different spots, and Elgton’s one of those guys who can play all five spots. So, he’s a luxury, but I’m excited to see what he can do at center, as well.”
Early offseason absence won’t hinder Elgton Jenkins
Jenkins is not in the offseason activities for now but offensive line coach Luke Butkus is not worried with his process of moving from guard to center.
“He’s special in that regard, in being able to cross train and do all that stuff. Played (center) in college at a high level. I thought one of his better games last year was when he played center. There’s no concern about that and he’ll fit in just fine.”

Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich feels the same and revealed that Jenkins is a willing player in this change.
“I think he’s open to it,” he said.
“The conversations that we’ve had with him, yeah, he’s got a lot of experience there and he was open to it, excited about it. So, ready to go.”
