Savion Williams is one of the two wide receivers picked by the Green Bay Packers in the 2025 draft. The other one is Matthew Golden.

The Packers needed guys on the WR department and they delivered. Does this mean Williams and Golden will become instant regular guys? Not really. Or maybe not both of them.
First, there was the statement by general manager Brian Gutekunst about how rookies usually have a hard time earning minutes.
“It’s great when they do, but that’s not always the case,” he said a week before the NFL draft.
“The transition to the National Football League is tough. It’s not always easy. A lot of times it’s really determined by opportunity.”
Then there’s the fact that the Packers still have a lot of veteran wide receivers even if Christian Watson is set to miss the most of next season.

Williams is aware of this but he is willing to learn from these veterans.
“Whatever they learned as a rookie, that’s what I’m looking forward to,” Williams said in an interview with Packers.com. “Just learning.”
Jordan Love’s message to Savion Williams, Matthew Golden
Williams and Golden both have mentors on the wide receiver shop in the team.
It is great for them, too, as they got a quarterback in Jordan Love who is willing to extend help for them.

“I briefly shot all those guys a text after they got drafted, just congratulating them, telling them to get ready for work. But I think next week, once they get back in the building with us, we’ll have some more communication and be able to see what those guys are all about.
“But I’m excited to get to work with them.”
Williams feels great about the message sent by Love.
“(When) your quarterback texts you, it feels great, man.”
