The Green Bay Packers have solidified their edge rush for the next few seasons. Preston Smith was given a contract extension this offseason and Rashan Gary had his fifth year option picked up by the club. Additionally, many around the NFL expect Gary to receive a massive $100 million contract extension from the Packers next year. Together, Gary and Smith combined for 18.5 sacks last season. After them, though, Green Bay has very little depth at the edge rusher position. In an effort to boost this depth, two-time Pro Bowl defensive end/edge rusher Carlos Dunlap has been named as a potential cheap free agent target.

Carlos Dunlap’s NFL Career
A 12-year veteran, Carlos Dunlap was drafted in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent the first 10 and a half years of his career with the Bengals. In 2020, the team traded him to the Seattle Seahawks for an offensive lineman and seventh round pick. Dunlap burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2010 by racking up 9.5 sacks in just 12 games. After a bit of a regress in 2011, Dunlap has not recorded fewer than 6.0 sacks in any season that he has played.
Dunlap enjoyed back-to-back Pro Bowl seasons in 2015 and 2016. In 2015, he had a career-high 13.5 sacks. The next season, Dunlap registered 8.0 sacks and an astonished 11 passes defended as a defensive lineman.
Despite not being named to anymore Pro Bowls, Dunlap has still been a very productive pass rusher. In 2017, he registered 7.5 sacks, seven more pass deflection, and had an interception that he returned for a touchdown.
Over the course of his 12-year career, Dunlap has registered 96.0 sacks, 21 forced fumbles, and 539 total tackles. Last season, he registered 8.5 sacks and seven pass deflections for the Seahawks.
