Packers’ Jeff Hafley reveals what’s motivating Micah Parsons

Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons is playing the most dominant football of his season, and perhaps his career, at exactly when Green Bay has needed it most.

Against the Detroit Lions, Parsons logged two sacks of Lions quarterback Jared Goff in the fourth quarter to stave off any realistic comeback bid helping secure a pivotal win for Green Bay as the Packers look to keep pace both in the NFC North but alive in the race for the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

On pace for the most prolific and disruptive season of his career, Parsons has already posted 12.5 sacks since being traded to Green Bay, by the Dallas Cowboys on the eve of the regular season kicking off, back in August.

Parsons is one of the most dominant players at the position in the sport, but Packers coordinator Jeff Hafley reveals that there’s motivating the All-Pro than mere production.

“I think all great players are motivated,” Hafley told reporters, of Parsons, this week. “I’d like to know who in the right mind would disrespect Micah Parsons. That’s a whole other story. But yeah, I think a lot of good coaches and good players go into a dark place on game day and do whatever it takes to win the game. So

“I’m sure he find a really good one to get into because it seems to be working for him really well, but I don’t know how anybody could disrespect him at all. It’s not just the production and the sacks. It’s just the way he plays the game, how hard he plays it, the knowledge that he has for the game. But I hope he goes into a really dark place on Sunday. I’m excited to see that.”

The latest fuel for the fire, comes ahead of the pivotal matchup against the Bears. Parsons told reporters this week that he feels the Bears are being “disrespectful” by emphasizing their run game in a manner that challenges the Packers’ defense, giving him fresh motivation for Sunday.

Williams and the Bears may pay a price for giving Parsons even more bullentin board material for a player who doesn’t struggle at all finding motivation to wreak havoc in the backfield.
