Packers Meet With Former Badger LB at Shrine Bowl

The Green Bay Packers have met with several standouts at this year’s collegiate Shrine Bowl. Among those listed was former Wisconsin linebacker Jack Sanborn. Let’s take a look at why Jack Sanborn would be a great late-round pick for the Packers during the 2022 draft.

Reason #1: Jack Sanborn’s body of work at Wisconsin

In his four years at Wisconsin from 2018-2021, Sanborn put up big numbers. He tallied 130 solo tackles, 98 assisted tackles, 29 TFLs, 11.5 sacks, four interceptions, four pass deflections, and three forced-fumbles. What’s even more impressive is that Sanborn became a full-time starter at linebacker during his sophomore season in 2019. His total body of work in just four years is incredible and could translate very well in the NFL.

    Reason #2: Jack Sanborn’s relentless on-field effort

Along with his impressive work stat wise, Sanborn’s motor on the field was relentless until the final whistle. Once he got past the linemen, his mission was to either disrupt or completely stop the opposition. 99.9% of the time, he succeeded in doing so. Sanborn pursued the ball and read all three levels of the field with minimal difficulty. That showed in his impressive statistics from his time with the Badgers.

Reason #3: The Packers need a player like Jack Sanborn

Over recent years, Green Bay’s defense has seen its fair share of linebackers. With All-Pro De’Vondre Campbell headlining the 2021 defense in the middle, he’ll need a running mate if the Packers decide to re-sign him this offseason (hint: they should). If that’s the case, who better to pair him with draft wise than Sanborn? Campbell can be a great mentor for the young linebacker and in turn, the two could end up becoming a formidable combination on defense.

Time will tell, but as it looks now, Jack Sanborn seems like a great late round pick for the Packers come April.
