The Green Bay Packers appear poised to commit significant resources to improving the defensive line, which could start with hiring away rising star Kacy Rodgers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the franchise’s new defensive line coach.
However, general manager Brian Gutekunst might not be stopping there, in terms of bolstering the front seven to combat the ascending Caleb Williams in Chicago, the prolific Minnesota Vikings offense, and the NFL’s second-leading passer, Jared Goff, all residing in the NFC North.
Ahead of the offseason beginning in earnest, Tyler Brooke of The 33rd Team put together a list of potential trades that would lift the ceiling of contenders in the coming months, including a blockbuster deal that sends Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro Maxx Crosby to the Packers in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick and 2026 third-round selection.
“Crosby would come in and be an immediate difference-maker in Hafley’s defense,” Brooke Writes for The 33rd team. “He had 54 pressures and 7.5 sacks in just 12 games this year and is also a disruptive player against the run.
“It would take significant resources to convince the Raiders to give up their franchise player in his prime. However, if Crosby wants to play for a contender before the end of his career, then the Packers would be the perfect landing spot.”
Adding a dynamic pass-rusher should rank high on Gutekunst and the Packers’ offseason to-do list.

Hafley’s system is predicated on dominant secondary play, which would benefit from improving a pass rush that finished the 2024 campaign with 46 sacks but was ranked 13th in the league against the pass.
Crosby would be a monumental upgrade, after posting 59.5 career sacks while producing three double-digit sack seasons in the first seasons seasons of his career.
As much as the Packers have done exceptionally well building through the draft, sending two picks for Crosby to acquire a veteran playmaker as disruptive an anchor up front could be Green Bay’s quickest path to building a dominant defense.
