The Green Bay Packers scored a huge victory on Sunday night to get back to the top of the NFC North division.
Green Bay also snapped the five-game winning streak of Ben Johnson’s Bears and, in a way, scored a measure of revenge against Chicago’s head coach.
It can be recalled that during his introductory press conference in January after getting hired by the Bears, Johnson said that he ” kind of enjoyed beating Matt LaFleur twice a year.” Before he joined the Bears, Johnson was the offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions, who defeated Green Bay twice in the 2024 campaign.

LaFleur not putting extra weight on Packers’ Week 14 win over Chicago

Was Green Bay’s Week 14 win over Johnson and the Bears make the victory extra meaningful for LaFleur?
“Absolutely not,” LaFleur said, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN). “It’s Packers-Bears. It’s a great rivalry, and certainly with what was at stake in regards to positioning in the NFC North, that’s the only thing that matters.”
Green Bay built an 11-point lead in the first half, but the Bears chipped at it little by little before tying the score at 21-21 with a Colston Loveland touchdown in the fourth quarter. However, Green Bay responded with a short Josh Jacobs scoring run before cornerback Keisean Nixon thwarted Chicago’s comeback bid with an interception off a pass by Caleb Williams near the end of the fourth period.
Now No. 1 again in the NFC North with a 9-3-1 record, Green Bay will look to keep it that way when the Packers face the Bears again in Week 16 at Soldier Field in Chicago. But before that, Green Bay has to face the dangerous Denver Broncos first in Mile High City in Week 15.
