The Green Bay Packers are jockeying for playoff positioning in the season finale on Sunday afternoon against the Chicago Bears, who are merely playing out the string, and Matt LaFleur has a secret weapon up his sleeve against the NFC North rivals.
LaFleur is turning to a former foe, who knows this Bears roster far better than most, to get a leg-up against Chicago this weekend.
According to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman, former Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy has been seen around Packers practice throughout the week ahead of the season finale, which LaFleur confirmed on Friday.
Matt LaFleur says Getsy is known as “The Mayor” here. He’s been helping the Packers out on the defensive side of the ball for weeks. This week was first time he’s been here in person. https://t.co/I1QtOgFBJP

It isn’t uncommon for teams to bring on special consultants, especially when coaches have past experience and familiarity with them, as LaFleur does with Getsyu.
However, Getsy is such a unique case because he has previously worked with LaFleur, and knows the Bears’ roster and tendencies so well.
Getsy’s presence could wind up having an impact on the Packers’ offense not only this week against Chicago but how the play-calling and philosophies develop for the upcoming playoffs, as well.
