There is another LaFleur in the head-coach fraternity in the NFL. On Sunday, it was announced that the younger brother of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator, Mike LaFleur, has been hired as the newest sideline boss of the Arizona Cardinals.
“I couldn’t be more fired up to become the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals and am beyond grateful to (owner) Michael (Bidwill) and (GM) Monti (Ossenfort) for this opportunity,” Mike LaFleur said (h/t Darren Urban of Arizona’s official website). “Having competed against them in the NFC so many times in recent years, I know the type of talent and toughness the team has and cannot wait to get to Arizona to hit the ground running.”
Packers’ LaFleur sees brother get a job in NFC West
The NFC West was the best division in the 2025 NFL regular season, but the Cardinals were the odd team out. The Rams, San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks all made the NFL playoffs, while the Cards had an early vacation after finishing with only three wins against 14 losses.
With Mike LaFleur taking over the spot left by Jonathan Gannon, who is now Green Bay’s defensive coordinator, there is a new set of siblings as head coaches in the NFL. Apart from the LaFleurs, brothers Jim Harbaugh and John Harbaugh are handling the same jobs for the Los Angeles Chargers and the New York Giants, respectively.
Before going to the Rams and then to the Cardinals, Mike had coaching stints with the Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets.
