The Green Bay Packers’ ground attack has been solid for most of the 2025 NFL season, thanks to the presence of running back Josh Jacobs.
But Green Bay’s depth at the position has been hit by the absence of MarShawn Lloyd, who has yet to see action in the 2025 NFL season.
This is Lloyd’s second season in the NFL, but he’s only appeared in a game in his pro career. Injuries have derailed his potential to contribute to Green Bay’s offense. In his rookie campaign in 2024, the former USC Trojans star dealt with injuries to his hamstring, hip and ankle.
Then, just when it was looking as though he was ready to have a full season with the team, he sustained another hamstring injury in a preseason game versus the Indianapolis Colts.
Packers’ Lloyd shares thoughts being away due to injury

Lloyd has since spent his time on the injured reserve. Yet to be activated from the IR, he opened up recently on how difficult the phase has been for him.
“It’s hard. It’s definitely hard, but you got to keep your faith,” Lloyd said, per Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated. “You got to keep your faith and you got to keep good people around you just to make sure you keep yourself in the right mind.”
Lloyd added: “I’m not going to sit here and say it wasn’t challenging because it happens here, happens there, happens – I’m a human. Only person who really knows how I feel was my girl from when I go back home, because I did talk to her and different things. Just having the right people around you.”
Green Bay has opened the 21-day return-to-play timetable for Lloyd, so a decision will have to be made by the team by Dec. 24 on whether to add him to the 53-man roster or keep him out for the rest of the season.
