Packers’ MarShawn Lloyd issues crystal clear message on 2025 availability

MarShawn Lloyd is in his second season in the NFL, but he’s barely been seen on the field since the Green Bay Packers selected him in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

In fact, the former USC Trojans star running back has appeared in only one game so far in his pro career, thanks to injuries. He’s yet to see action as well in the 2025 season, as a hamstring injury continues to cloud his outlook.

It looked as though he was finally going to be healthy for the 2025 campaign, but a hamstring injury he suffered in the offseason has since prevented him from being available for Green Bay, which is scheduled to face the Minnesota Vikings this coming Sunday at Lambeau Field.

As it remains uncertain whether Lloyd will get activated soon, Green Bay running backs coach Ben Sirmans provided some hint of optimism about the possibility of the tailback joining the team before the 2025 campaign ends.

    Via Rob Demovsky of ESPN:

Packers RB coach Ben Sirmans said he believes MarShawn Lloyd will play this season.

“He’s pretty excited about some of the things he’s doing.”

Sirmans said the oft-injured Lloyd told him, “I’m coming back and this is going to be it. It’s the last time.”

The talk about Lloyd’s possible return has gained traction of late, with running back Josh Jacobs’ status up in the air at the moment after suffering a knee injury in Green Bay’s Week 11’s 27-20 win over the New York Giants. The Packers still have Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks in the running back room, but it surely wouldn’t hurt the team either if they get Lloyd back sooner rather than later.

As a team, Green Bay is just 19th in the NFL with 113.5  rushing yards per game despite being ninth overall with a 45.87 percent rushing play rate.
