The Green Bay Packers know they have issues to address if they are to go deep in the looming NFL playoffs.
They got reminded of that again last Saturday, when they got mauled by Derrick Henry and the Baltimore Ravens in a 41-24 loss at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
Despite Baltimore missing the services of superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson, the Packers couldn’t slow down the Ravens’ attack. Henry ran all over Green Bay, exploding for a total of 216 rushing yards while scoring not one, not two, not three, but four touchdowns on 36 carries.
Baltimore had its way against the Packers in Week 17
The Ravens didn’t hide their intent to keep feeding Henry the ball, but even then, Green Bay failed to stop him.
Packers defensive end Lukas Van Ness didn’t mince words when he spoke about his team’s performance in Week 17.
“It’s embarrassing having the opponent coming into our house and the way they were celebrating and talking to us and just feeling the complacency and the energy on the sideline,” Van Ness said, via Justin Robertson of the Ravens’ official website.
“Frankly, it’s unacceptable. Starting with myself, the defense and honestly, all three phases. At this point of the season, we gotta find a way to play collective and be better. Definitely embarrassing.”
All told, Baltimore racked up 414 total yards to 363 by Green Bay.
The Packers are now on a three-game losing streak with one more chance left to snap out of their slump before the playoffs. They will finish their regular-season schedule in Week 18’s showdown against the Minnesota Vikings in the Twin Cities.
