The Packers land a Super Bowl winner for 2023
The Green Bay Packers will evaluate their quarterback position as the 2022 season unwinds. The Packers will need to decide if Aaron Rodgers will be the guy going forward or if they’ll trade him. He could wind up retiring. The Packers could turn to Jordan Love if the team is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. One NFL analyst suggests the Packers might try to sign a two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback.
The Packers might decide they need to move on from Rodgers and that Love is not a franchise quarterback. The Packers could look for help in the 2023 draft if that’s the case. The are also plenty of quarterback options in free agency.
Brad Gagnon with Bleacher Report wrote about potential places Jimmy Garoppolo might land in 2023. Gagnon suggested the Packers might land Garoppolo.
If by chance this is Aaron Rodgers’ last year in Green Bay, a Packers team looking to save face and bounce back quickly could try to smooth things over with a veteran like Garoppolo.
The Packers need to see what Love can do first
Garoppolo has shown he can lead an NFL team to be a playoff contender once again this season. Garoppolo replaced Trey Lance after Lance was injured in Week 2. Garoppolo’s passed for over 2300 yards and has thrown 16 touchdowns to four interceptions this season.
Garoppolo’s play has given legitimacy to Bill Belichick’s belief he would make sense to replace Tom Brady. The Patriots might be in a better position to make the Super Bowl this season with Garoppolo then Brady or Mac Jones. The San Francisco 49ers are 7-4, and after the Christian McCaffrey trade, they have an excellent chance to win the NFC Championship.
However, the Packers need to see what they have in Love. He played well when he relieved an injured Rodgers against the Philadelphia Eagles. He could be more than the elite game manager Garoppolo is. Love’s progress will be something to key in on in the last month of the NFL regular season.
