There are so many great names that people may think of first when the Green Bay Packers are mentioned, but the first name is probably not the franchiseโs all-time scoring leader. That title belong to current Packers kicker Mason Crosby. In 2022, Mason Crosby likely will also etch his name into the teamโs and NFLโs record books once again.
The Most Games as a Green Bay Packers Player
If one were to ask which player has played the most games for the Green Bay Packers, they would not be surprised to find out the answer is Brett Favre. The Hall of Fame quarterback currently holds a Packers record with 255 games for the franchise, starting in 253 of them.
Entering 2022, Mason Crosby has played in 241 games for the Green Bay Packers. If he plays in all 17 games this season, he will end the year with 258 therefore breaking Favreโs record.
The Most Consecutive Games Played by a NFL Kicker
Morten Anderson set the record for most consecutive games played by a NFL kicker. Consequently, between 1988 and 2002, Andersen played in 248 consecutive games. Once Mason Crosby plays in the Packersโ eighth game in 2022, he will break Andersenโs record.
An Elite Packers Club
The 2022 NFL season will be Packers kicker Mason Crosbyโs 16th with Green Bay. If all goes according to plan, Crosby will become just the fifth Packers player to spend 16 seasons in Green Bay. The others? Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre, Bart Starr, and Ray Nitschke.
Now thatโs certainly some special company. While there are rumors that there is a kicker competition in camp, all signs point to Mason Crosby retaining his role in 2022.
