The NFL released the Pro Bowl rosters on Wednesday night. Green Bay had just one representative chosen this year, cornerback Jaire Alexander. The Packers also had six players named as alternates to the game: Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Jones, Elgton Jenkins, David Bakhtiari, Kenny Clark, and Keisean Nixon. It is notable that Nixon was named as an alternate because he was not the Packers kick returner for a good portion of the season. Green Bay stuck with Amari Rodgers in that role for quite some time. This decision, Matt LaFleur said, has and will garner him some much deserved criticism. In short, Nixon has provided a spark to the Packers special teams that has not been seen since the days of Desmond Howard.
All that being said, Nixon is one of the best return specialists in the NFL. However, rookie KaVontae Turpin of the Dallas Cowboys got the nod for the NFC. Based on his reaction on Twitter, Nixon was not too thrilled about being looked over.
Keisean Nixon Reacts to Pro Bowl Snub
Before going into Nixon’s response, it is important to know the stats for each kick returner. Therefore, I am going to present those to you without their names in order to help you come to an unbiased conclusion of your own.
- Return Specialist A: 22 punt returns, 261 punt return yards, no touchdowns; 18 kick off returns, 426 kick return yards, no touchdowns (713 total return yards)
- Return Specialist B: Six punt returns, 92 punt return yards, no touchdowns; 28 kick off returns, 712 kick return yards, no touchdowns (804 total return yards)
Now, here is Nixon’s response:
LOL…

If you’re questioning why Nixon responded in this way, it is because he is Return Specialist B. Even teammate Marcedes Lewis could not believe the snub:

Another interesting nugget is that Nixon leads the NFL in kick returns of 30 or more yards (he has eight). He has been the kick returner in eight games. Turpin, by the way, also has eight games as a kick returner. In other words, Nixon has done more in the same amount of time as a returner as Turpin. Perhaps it is because the Cowboys have a better record than the Packers that Nixon was passed over. If that is the case, it is a real shame.
In response to Lewis’ Tweet above, Nixon said “We Gone Get The Last Laugh…”
The Packers have an uphill battle to reach the NFC Playoffs. If they do get in, it will be, in large part, because of Nixon. And if they do get in, Nixon is going in with a massive chip on his shoulder.
