It remains to be seen whether Jayden Reed will be able to return to the lineup Sunday against the bitter NFC North rival Chicago Bears, but Packers running back Josh Jacobs didn’t hold back, when asked how valuable the top receiver is to Green Bay’s offense.
“He brings a certain type of energy and mentality to that receiver room but not only that receiver room but to the offense,” Jacobs told reporters this week.
“I know he’s itching to get back at it. I was talking to him today actually about just making sure he gets all the reps that he needs to feel like he can go out there and play and not have to think or feel like he’s missing a step.”
What Jayden Reed adds to Packers offense

While Christian Watson is coming off the strongest game of his season, so far, and Dontayvion Wicks seems to be turning a corner–especially when it comes to limiting dropped passes, a Reed return wuold add Green Bay’s leading receiver from the past two seasons back into quarterback Jordan Love’s arsenal and push the passing game closer to full-strength where it was operating before losing emerging star tight end Tucker Kraft for the season.
Reed has caught 122 passes through his first 35 games, for 1,695 yards and 15 touchdowns, as one of Love’s top and most consistent targets.
Sidelined since suffering a collarbone injury in Week 2 against Washington, if Reed can get back on the field in the near future he would give the offense a major boost as the NFL’s second-most-difficult closing stretch gets underway.
