Packers: John Kuhn Has Bold Comparison Between End of Brett Favre Era and Current Aaron Rodgers Situation

The Green Bay Packers have been fortunate to have had 30 years of MVP-caliber quarterback play. Both Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers have endeared themselves to fans, winning seven MVP’s and two Super Bowl titles between them. However, with such high-productive play comes tough decisions and transitions. The way in which Favre left the Packers left a bad taste in the mouths of fans. Now, there are questions surrounding the future of Rodgers in Green Bay. On his show “Nine 2 Noon,” former Packers full back John Kuhn, who played with both quarterbacks, and a bold comparison between the two situations.

John Kuhn Says the Packers Can Improve Faster If They Move On from Aaron Rodgers

John Kuhn was around when Green Bay made the decision to move on from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers. He knows a thing or two about the difficult decisions that the team is facing right now. Keeping that in mind, his words on the situation yesterday are very eye-opening:

"Maybe we should not be so pissed off if we let Aaron Rodgers go." – Kuhn comparing the Favre and Rodgers situations.

“What makes this different from the Brett Favre thing is this year the Packers went 8-9. When Favre was traded, the Packers went into overtime in the NFC Championship Game. That was a much bigger deal. That was the first time this deal had been done, right? Now we’re looking at the Aaron Rodgers thing, and we’re like, ‘Hey, we made it without Brett. We came out of a NFC Championship Game with Brett. An overtime NFC Championship Game. We were one or two plays away from being in a Super Bowl, and we went to Aaron.’

“And that got us all [ticked] off, and maybe we shouldn’t be so [ticked] off if we let Aaron Rodgers go this time. If we have to trade him. The team was only 8-9 last year. We can definitely rebuild faster, can rebuild quicker, can rebuild a little more efficiently if you are able to move Aaron Rodgers. That’s what makes it feel differently this year.”

Of course, there is no quick decision or solution to the situation that Green Bay is facing right now. No one, not even Rodgers himself, is certain that he even wants to play football in 2023. If he does, there will certainly be some tough decisions facing the front office.
