Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, a candidate for multiple head coaching vacancies, completed his interview with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday. For different reasons, fans from both teams are hoping for the same verdict.

Hafley isn’t the most coveted of candidates, but Green Bay wants him back

Packers fans don’t want to lose their defensive coordinator. Dolphins fans are skeptical of a candidate whose only head coaching experience came at Boston College from 2020-23. He’s only been back in the NFL two years, his first stint as high up the pro coaching ladder as a coordinator position. Hafley’s previous NFL experience came as a defensive backs coach for the Buccaneers, Browns, and 49ers from 2012-18.

Both fanbases are hoping the Dolphins hire someone else.

“Tell him to lose the address,” one Miami fan tweeted in response to the announcement.

“Yeah, that’s gonna be a no for me, dawg,” another commented via GIF.

“Hopefully getting the bad ones done first.” (Ouch.)

    And simply, “No thank you.”

Green Bay fans tried various tactics to make Hafley appear as undesirable as possible and keep him in Green Bay as DC.

“Nah. You don’t want him. Bisaccia is the Packers coach you want!!” Decidedly unpopular with fans, special teams coach Rich Bisaccia is not expected back with the team after a dismal showing from his unit this season.

Another fan trolled, “I heard Jeff hates dogs, is that really the type of man you want coaching your football team?”

Perhaps dubious driving ability would make him less appealing. “Did he tell you he never uses his blinker?”

Well, it was worth a shot.

Other commenters were more direct. “Don’t leave me Jeff,” one pleaded.

“Stay away from Jeff,” another warned.

    “Please don’t.”

The odds might not favor Hafley as an inexperienced option in a field full of more established, albeit fairly few top-notch names. On the other hand, the number of jobs available plays to his favor. As hires are made and choices dwindle, he could get his shot somewhere whether that’s in Miami or not.

    Packers fans can only wait.
