During the third quarter of what was eventually a 27-10 loss to the Jets, Randall Cobb was carted off the field with an apparent ankle injury. Initially it was believed that Cobb would miss the remainder of the season. Cobb was clearly emotional has he exited the game. According to Cobb’s Instagram story he believed he suffered a broken ankle. Cobb later took to instagram saying that “he will be back soon.” But how soon is the question.
Ian Rappoport, an insider for NFL Network and NFL.com took to twitter to share on update on Cobb’s status.
#Packers WR Randall Cobb received some good news on his ankle, going from initially believing he was out with a fracture to now learning that it’s a sprain that knocks him out just 2-4 weeks, sources say. He expressed his excitement on IG. pic.twitter.com/9qQ3WPLNMm

It seems like Cobb is taking the news well, using humor in what he originally thought to be a grave situation. A sense of relief has washed over Green Bay Packers fans as they learned the injury status of the Packers’ veteran wideout. Thankfully Cobb will not miss the remainder of the season. Packers fans are hoping he will only miss the minimum two weeks. This is what head Coach Matt LaFleur had to say about the Randall Cobb injury, “It’s not going to be like a one-week deal or anything like that; I think he’s going to miss some time. But he definitely avoided a serious injury.” Hopefully Cobb will be back soon rather than later because Green Bay is lacking serious depth at the WR position.
What the Packers miss without Cobb
With Randall Cobb out for at least two weeks the Packers will be missing a key offensive weapon. In London against the Giants Cobb showed glimpses of the 2014 version of himself where he had a 1,000+ yard season. He led the way with seven catches and 99 receiving yards in that game. In addition, Cobb led the Packers in total receiving yards with 249 heading into the Jets game. It won’t be easy moving forward without Cobb however long that may be. The rest of the Packers wide receiving corps will seriously have to step up in the meantime.
