The Green Bay Packers have already hosted many prospects for pre-draft visits and/or workouts. These players include wide receivers Treylon Burkes and Tyquan Thornton. It has also included former Badgers Jake Ferguson and Caesar Williams. As the Packers continue to do their due diligence on NFL Draft prospects, they have now added former Ohio State and Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams to their list.

Jameson Williams as a College Wide Receiver
Jameson Williams played his first two seasons at Ohio State University. He was not used much and totaled just 15 receptions for 266 yards and three touchdowns in those two years. After transferring to Alabama, though, Williams exploded onto the scene as one of the best, if not THE best, wide receiver in college football.
In his lone season at Alabama, Williams had 79 receptions for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns. Unfortunately, Williams tore his ACL in the National Championship game and may not be ready for the start of the NFL season. However, he is still projected to be a first round pick in this year’s NFL Draft.
The Scouting Report on Jameson Williams
Based on his lone season at Alabama, there are very few weaknesses in James Williams’ game. He is incredibly fast and can line up in the slot or as a boundary wide receiver. Williams has displayed good hands and the ability to make contested catches. Due to his speed, he is a deep threat and explosive play waiting to happen. His route running is as good as any player’s in the draft and he can be an immediate contributor in the NFL (once he is cleared to play).
Will Jameson Williams Be Available for the Packers in the Late First Round?
Due to his ACL injury, Williams may drop down to the late first round. The Packers, of course, have two picks in the first round: picks 22 and 28. Many fans and analysts expect the Packers to use at least one of these picks on a wide receiver. If Williams is available, and if Green Bay feels like they can wait for his knee to heal, he would be a no-brainer of a draft pick.
