The Green Bay Packers currently hold a rather impressive NFL record. Yes, it may seem surprising that this current Packers team could possibly hold a NFL record. However, it’s the Packers of the past that started it all. The Packers are the first team in NFL history to win 13 games in three straight seasons. The 1967-1969 Oakland Raiders are the only other team in the Super Bowl Era (since 1966) to win at least 80 percent of their games in three straight seasons. There is a strong feeling amongst Packers fans that the 13 win season streak will come to end against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.
Packers three consecutive 13 win seasons
Realistically, there is a zero percent chance that the Green Bay Packers will win out the rest of this season. The quest for four straight 13 win seasons is not realistic at this point. Nevertheless, the Packers’ historic streak started in 2019, just as current head coach Matt LaFleur was taking over. Currently LaFleur’s head coaching record is 44-17, including the playoffs.
In 2019 the Packers went 13-3 and lost in the NFC championship game. The next year in 2020 was the exact same result, going 13-3 and losing in the conference championship game. In 2021 Green Bay went 13-4 and lost in the divisional round of the playoffs. This season……well we all know how that’s going. It’s a very likely possibility that Green Bay falls to 3-5 after Sunday’s game against the Bills making it no longer possible to reach 13 wins.
Ultimately, it’s been a great past couple of seasons for the Green Bay Packers. However, I’m sure Packers fans and players would have loved to see a championship in recent years. 2022 has been a rough patch for Green Bay. But historically, the Packers organization as a whole has been blessed with countless successes. Sometimes it’s nice to take a trip down memory lane especially during a dim start to the 2022 season.
