On Sunday the Green Bay Packers took a Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings 23-7. Many things have been said in over 24 hours since the game ended. The offense is young with the new wide receiving core, and the defense has new pieces as well. One of those new defensive players is outside linebacker Quay Walker.
Quay Walker is a new addition out of the University of Georgia. The defensive secondary did not cover the Vikings top wide receiver Justin Jefferson like Packers fans expected. But Quay Walker, up until he got hurt was everywhere on the field.
Packers Rookie LB Quay Walker Stats
The rookie outside linebacker played 38 total snaps against the Vikings. Combining for eight tackles before his shoulder injury suffered in the second half of the game. Defensively, the Green Bay Packers did play well on the outside perimeter defending the run. Walker showed nice closing speed and had some hard hits on the tackles he made while he was on the field.
Quay Walker looks to be a promising player with the Packers as long as he can stay healthy from here on out, make a return, and help the team on the defensive side of the ball. Packers Head Coach Matt Lafleur gave an update on Monday about the rookie linebacker and his shoulder injury.
Quay Walker Injury Status
Matt LaFleur says the Packers are going to give Quay Walker the week to recover from the shoulder injury he sustained in Minnesota, so there’s a chance he won’t miss any time. They dodged major injury with both Walker and Krys Barnes.

It is good news to hear that Quay Walker’s injury status is not too serious. So there is a chance that the rookie will play in the Green Bay Packers home debut next Sunday night against the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field. The Packers will have to contain Justin Fields, running back David Montgomery and the Bears wide receivers.

What a better way to return than it be against the Packers biggest rival in the NFC North next week. Week 1 was definitely not what the team or fans hoped for. But a bounce back would be nice in Week 2. Quay Walker has a chance to heal this week, and may not miss any time, which is what Packers fans would love to see. Hopefully #7 is able to play.
The Green Bay Packers will face their NFC North rival the Chicago Bears next Sunday night in primetime at 8:20 pm ET on NBC.
