Packers Have One Player Named to Pro Bowl; Six Others Named Alternates

The Green Bay Packers are too far removed from a season in which they sent seven players to the Pro Bowl. This season, they will be sending just one: cornerback Jaire Alexander. This is Alexander’s second Pro Bowl nomination in his five-year career.

So far this season, Alexander has a career-high four interceptions, 12 passes defended, and 49 tackles. Opposing quarterbacks have just a 66.4 passer rating when targeting Alexander, a career-best mark for him. When Alexander made his first Pro Bowl in 2020, quarterbacks had a 67.4  passer rating when targeting him. Darius Slay, Trevon Diggs, and Tariq Woolen were the other cornerbacks selected from the NFC.

Six Green Bay Packers Players Named as Pro Bowl Alternates

    Offense

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was named as an alternate to the Pro Bowl behind Jalen Hurts, Geno Smith, and Kirk Cousins. This snaps a streak of four-straight seasons in which Rodgers was named to the Pro Bowl.

Elgton Jenkins has spent the majority of the season working his way back from a torn ACL. Despite missing the first few weeks, Jenkins played well enough to be named as alternate behind guards Zach Martin, Landon Dickerson, and Chris Lindstrom.

Like Jenkins, David Bakhtiari has spent much of the year coming back to form after his torn ACL. He has missed some games here and there, but has been one of the best left tackles in the game when healthy. The NFL voters recognized this by naming him an alternate as well. Trent Williams, Lane Johnson, and Tristan Wirfs were the tackles named to the Pro Bowl from the NFC.

Aaron Jones has climbed all the way up to third on the Packers all-time rushing list. He currently has 937 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the season. Saquon Barkley, Tony Pollard, and Miles Sanders got the nod from the NFC.

    Defense

After being named to the Pro Bowl last season, Kenny Clark will settle for being an alternate in 2022. He has 3.0 sacks, 47 tackles (five for loss), and eight quarterback hits. Last year, Clark had 4.0 sacks, 48 tackles (nine for loss), and 13 quarterback hits. Aaron Donald, Jonathan Allen, and Dexter Lawrence were the NFC interior defensive linemen named to the Pro Bowl.

Note: Former Packers edge rusher Za’Darius Smith was named to the Pro Bowl

    Special Teams

One would have to imagine that if Matt LaFleur had not waited so long to replace Amari Rodgers, Keisean Nixon would be the NFC Pro Bowl return specialist. As it is, he is an alternate behind KaVontae Turpin of the Dallas Cowboys.
