Bragging rights weren’t the only thing on the line against the Bears on Sunday. Both teams came in tied with the most franchise wins in NFL history. Whoever won would take over sole ownership. The Bears have held that record for a long time. The Packers took over a 100-year-old franchise wins record from the Bears with the win on Sunday.

Packers Take Over Franchise Wins Record
Any victory against the Bears is sweet. Taking away this record from them is icing on the cake. The Bears have held this record for over 100 years. Not only are the Bears one of the oldest franchises in the NFL but until recently, they have had winning teams. It makes sense that they would be the winningest franchise. The last decade, however, has seen them struggle and the Packers rack up wins. Now, the Packers are the sole owners of this record.
Can They Hold It?
Both the Bears and the Packers are having rough seasons. At the beginning of the season, it was a foregone conclusion that the Packers would secure this record. Now, the Packers need some more wins, and the Bears to lose, in order to hold it. I like the Packers’ chances. While the Bears have played better than in past years, it hasn’t translated into wins. The Packers look to be figuring some things out, especially on offense which may translate to some victories late in the season.
The fact that the Packers took over the franchise wins record from the Bears by beating the Bears is great. It is a bright spot in what has been a disappointing season.
