When the Green Bay Packers traded Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets just a few days before the 2023 NFL Draft, no one knew what the future would hold. Two season later, Green Bay has made the playoffs twice and seem to be just a few pieces away from becoming a championship contender.
However, Rodgers seems to have a head coaching candidate who wants to work with him.
“I’ll Do It” Packers Fans React To HC Candidate Asking To Team Up With Aaron Rodgers
While the Jets have cast a wide net in their coaching search, one of the hottest candidates may be emerging as the front-runner:
Aaron Glenn, a former Pro Bowl cornerback for the Jets and the current Lions defensive coordinator, has told people the Jets are his first choice if he were to be offered a head coaching position, The Post’s Brian Costello wrote in his “Inside the Jets” Post Sports+ newsletter this week.
The coaching cycle is fluid and Glenn could easily end up somewhere else — he’s been linked to the Saints, where he finished his career and was defensive backs coach for five years before joining the Lions.
Glenn, 52, has either interviewed with or will interview with the Jets, Saints, Bears, Jaguars and Raiders. He declined to interview for the Patriots job that went to Mike Vrabel in what was not a well-kept secret once New England fired Jerod Mayo.
The Lions defense allowed the seventh-fewest points per game (20.1) during their 15-2 regular season.
The Jets interviewed Vrabel before he went to Foxborough and also interviewed their former coach, Rex Ryan, and former Panthers and Commanders coach Ron Rivera.
Here is a look at Glenn’s stats while he was in the NFL:
Of course, fans were quick to react to this:
This is great for the jets. If they can’t land Brian Flores Aaron Glenn is a great backup option
