The Packers are going to need to upgrade the wide receiving corps around Jordan Love, at least if they listen to running back Josh Jacobs.

Given that Christian Watson will likely miss most of the 2025 season, and that the vertical passing game seemed to regress a bit in 2024, it won’t be surprising if the Packers go shopping near the top of the free-agent market at receiver and make the position a top priority early in the NFL Draft.

After all, teams such as the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Rams, and Cincinnati Bengals have proven over the past half-decade the value of fielding a dynamic and potentially game-altering wide receiver duo.

Are Packers Eyeing Emeka Egbuka in the NFL Draft?

In Pro Football Focus’ post-Super Bowl 2025 NFL Mock Draft, the Packers emerge with Ohio State game-breaking wide receiver Emeka Egbuka in the first round.

“The Packers have a lot of WR2s and WR3s,” Trevor Sikkema writes for PFF. “But they still lack a true WR1. Egbuka could be that. The worst part about him is that he played behind Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jeremiah Smith over the past three years. If it weren’t for that, his production would have been through the roof.”

Egbuka would fit the bill of a top-of-the-depth-chart receiver.

At 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, Egubka has the ability to take the top off a defense and caught 81 passes for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns, as a focal point of the national champion Ohio State Buckeyes’ vertical passing game.

“Emeka Egbuka is a savvy route runner,” The Bleacher Report Scouting Department writes of Edgubka. “Who wins in the short and intermediate range of the field. Quick passing attacks will appreciate how he marries the timing of his routes to the quarterback drop. He is going to be where his quarterback needs him to be. Projects as a consistent slot playmaker at the next level.”
