Edgerrin Cooper has been a revelation for the Green Bay Packers.
Chosen with the No. 45 overall pick in the second round of last spring’s NFL Draft, Cooper quickly developed into one of defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley’s most dynamic weapons.
Finishing the season with 87 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, and an interception in 14 games, there’s a compelling case that after being named NFL Defensive Rookie of The Month back in December, Cooper was the Packers’ most disruptive and vital defensive player.
According to Pro Football Focus, Cooper has an even bigger argument to make.
According to PFF, Cooper is already one of the premier linebackers in the sport, finishing with an 85.7 overall grade, fourth highest among linebackers across the NFL.

Beyond consistency and making timely plays, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur believes Cooper has “superstar” potential.
“I think he’s got superstar potential, I really do,” LaFleur told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic on the season-ending episode of the Matt LaFleur Podcast. “As long as he continues to work, which I know he will, I think (linebackers coach Anthony) Campanile does a great job of grinding those guys. It was a huge learning curve coming from Texas A&M to here. And you saw, the more he played, the better he got, and the more consistent he got. It’s going to be a great offseason for him. I think he’s planning on staying in town. Hopefully, we can get him bigger, faster, and stronger.”
