The Green Bay Packers have to feel good about the position they are in at the wide receiver position. Even after losing Davante Adams, the team made some great moves to reposition themselves for the future. Being able to snag both Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs in the 2022 NFL Draft was a godsend, and both players showed the potential of being future stars.
While the wide receiver position is in good hands, no one knows what the future holds at quarterback for the Packers. Aaron Rodgers is rumored to be on his way out of Green Bay via a trade, but only time will tell if that happens. If it does, both Watson and Doubs have been vocal about their belief and support of Jordan Love.
Doubs and Watson both had a chance to play at least one season with one of the best quarterbacks of all-time. In a recent interview, Doubs spoke out about that opportunity and also revealed his thoughts on Rodgers’ future with the Packers.
“I have no idea, man. If he decides to come back – that’s great. If he chooses not to, it’s his life… I wouldn’t be mad at any decision… Couldn’t have been thankful enough to play this year & be one of his receivers.”
Breaking Down Packers’ Future With Or Without Aaron Rodgers
Let’s dive in and look at what the future could hold for Doubs, the Packers, and Aaron Rodgers moving forward.
If the Packers and Rodgers decided to stick together for another season, they would once again be in a position where they need to add talent to the roster to compete for a Super Bowl. As currently constructed, it was clear this season that they simply aren’t good enough to make that kind of a run.
Thankfully, the Packers wouldn’t have to put in a ton of work at wide receiver. They would likely only need to focus on adding one veteran impact piece that could take pressure off of Watson and Doubs and be a consistent playmaker for Rodgers.

On the other hand, should the Packers trade Rodgers and move forward with Love, they would likely move forward with younger players. Watson and Doubs would stick as the No. 1 and No. 2 wideouts on the roster and Green Bay could even look to draft another young player to come in and grow with Watson, Doubs, and Love.
Brian Gutekunst and company have two directions they can go. They could put all their chips in and compete for one more Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers, or they could go young, rebuild a bit, and build around Love.
All of that being said, the wide receiver position is something to be excited about for the Packers. No matter what happens at quarterback, Doubs and Watson are going to be fun to watch in Green Bay for years to come.
