Former Green Bay Packers star wide receiver Donald Driver is committing significant resources to his HBCU as Alcorn State prepares to roll out a new partnership with his company, Driven Elite, on January 20. The initiative, part of Driven Elite’s New Year, New Kickoff campaign, aims to support Alcorn State’s student-athletes by prioritizing total wellness and placing a stronger focus on mental health.
The partnership will support both the men’s and women’s programs at Alcorn State. Donald Driver explained that the goal is to build a safe and empowering environment where student-athletes can develop mental resilience, leadership skills, and a strong sense of identity on and off the field.
He emphasized that mental health plays a direct role in performance and long-term success, with the program centered on mentorship, mindset growth, and purpose-driven development. As part of the initiative, the SURGE program for female student-athletes focuses on embracing identity, acting with intention, and creating meaningful impact in every setting they enter.

“Alcorn State is the ideal place for these programs to grow, and I am honored to be part of this movement with Driven Elite at my alma mater,” the former Packers star continued.
The partnership will introduce the SURGE initiative to Alcorn State student-athletes. Women athletes will benefit from new gear and individualized nutrition plans, while the men’s programs will prioritize mental health support, including the launch of an app that provides private access to licensed mental health professionals.

Alcorn State athletic director D’Wayne Robinson praised the partnership, highlighting its impact on the department and its student-athletes.
“SURGE represents our commitment to elevating women’s sports and ensuring our female student-athletes have access to the resources, guidance, and support they need to excel.”
