The Packers today cut their roster down to 53 Players. All teams must have had at a maximum of 53 players on their roster by 4PM EST today. As goes for most teams, some players start out on the PUP list or sometimes a player will be suspended to start the season. Those players are eligible to come back at a designated time during the season. There were some noteworthy moves today from the Packers on getting to 53 players so let’s break down the 53 man roster. Here is the official roster from the Packers website.
The Noteworthy Cuts
There’s always a few surprises on cut down day and today was no different.
Packers cut Green Bay native OL Cole Van Lanen, per source.

2021 6th Round Draft Pick Cole Van Lanen from Wisconsin, the OL room was too big and too deep.
Equanimeous St. Brown. There was always the potential there, but the ESB show in Green Bay is over.
Kurt Benkert. I thought that Benkert had a chance to make the 53 man roster. With the uncertainty after this year at QB and how well he did against the Jets, I thought that would have been enough. The Packers will obviously try to get him on the Practice Squad, but it’s likely that another team will pick him up. A fan favorite in his short time in Green Bay will be missed if he’s gone.
JK Scott is out in Green Bay. We’ll touch on that a bit more.
Notable Players Who Made The 53
DT Jack Heflin making the #Packers' 53-man roster is quite an accomplishment. The undrafted Iowa product came out of nowhere and just played himself into a spot on the 53-man roster. He made them keep him. Pretty remarkable.

Jack Heflin. Undrated out of Iowa, you have to feel great for the guy. His hard work and determination did not go unnoticed and now he will hopefully compete for a starting job.
Issac Yiadom. The Packers took a flyer on Yiadom when they traded Josh Jackson away to the Giants. It looks like Jackson made the 53 man roster for the Giants. A win win for now for both teams.
Malik Taylor. With Devin Funchess going on IR and eventually being released, that opened the door for Taylor to make the 53. Taylor had a great preseason, and definitely earned his spot.
Forever grateful man.

Important News And Notes
David Bahktiari will start the season on the PUP list. He won’t be able to return until week 7. A definite blow for the Packers. But it’s best to have your All-Pro healthy when he comes back to work.
The #Packers are keeping All-Pro LT David Bakhtiari (knee) on the PUP list into the season, source said, meaning he’ll miss the first six weeks. Tough blow for Green Bay, but this will allow perhaps the game’s best LT the chance to fully heal.

JK Scott as I mentioned earlier was released. To fill the spot the Packers traded with the Rams for Punter Corey Bojorquez, and a 7th round Pick in 2023. In return the Packers sent a 6th round pick in 2023 to the Rams. It may seem that Corey Bojorquez is the new Punter in Green Bay.
Trade: Rams sent P Corey Bojorquez and a 2023 7th-round pick to the Packers in exchange for a 6th-round pick in 2023, per source.

Jace Sternberger will start the season suspended for the first 2 games, due to an NFL Substance Abuse issue. Sternberger called the issue a “Horrible Decision.”
