The Green Bay Packers, at 4-8, have the slimmest of odds to make the 2022-23 playoffs. To say that this season has been a disappointment would be an understatement. Going into the 2022 season, both the Packers’ offense and defense were ranked in the top ten by various outlets. 12 weeks into the season many fans are now looking at the Packers’ 2023 draft pick. That first-round draft pick is now higher than we have seen since 2006.
The Packers Currently Hold The Eighth Overall Pick In the 2023 NFL Draft
The Packers’ most recent loss to the Eagles was only half of the equation. The Steelers’ win vs the Indianapolis Colts was the other half. Their win moved Green Bay up into the eighth overall pick in 2023. If this stands or gets even higher, it would be their highest pick in the first round since 2006. Since 2007, the highest Green Bay ever picked in the first round was ninth in 2009. They took B.J. Raji with that pick. Coincidentally they took Clay Matthews in the first round of that draft as well with the 26th overall pick.
The Steelers’ win tonight moves the Packers up from No. 9 to No. 8 in the 2023 NFL Draft for now.

In 2006 they took A.J. Hawk with the fifth overall pick. Green Bay will surely go into the 2023 NFL Draft with many needs. This year’s upcoming draft class will be loaded with top-heavy talent. Wide Receiver, Safety, and Tight End figure to be some of the top needs going into the draft. Is it possible they even target one of the premier quarterbacks coming out in 2023? There will be many questions answered once April 2023 rolls around.
