The Packers’ receiver room is full of young talent. There is heavy reliance on the young receivers producing. So far, the results have been mixed. Romeo Doubs has had some nice touchdown catches but also some drops. Christian Watson has shown off his elite speed but has struggled with drops (and injuries) as well. One forgotten rookie receiver, Samori Toure, has now seen much of the field but that could change soon. Packers WR coach Jason Vrable had high praise for rookie receiver Samori Toure
Packers Coach Praises Samori Toure
#Packers WR coach Jason Vrable said that the last 3 weeks rookie Samori Toure has really taken off in practice. He said on the scout team he regularly faces Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes and has shown he can get open. Said he is on point with his assignments and route running.

Allen Lazard is out for Sunday with a shoulder injury. Watson has practiced the last two days but he is still questionable. This could thrust Toure into a significant role and the Packers WR coach sang the praises of Samori Toure. Apparently, he is going against the Packers’ top cornerbacks, Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes, in practice and he is getting open. His route running has been on point and the coaches are impressed. The Packers could use someone who knows the assignments as mental mistakes have plagued the offense. Maybe Toure is just the player to help the Packers find some stability on offense.
Maybe Toure Can Provide A Spark
At this point, what is the harm in throwing Toure out there? If he has looked this good in practice and can get open, he should be out there. The offense can’t look worse than it already does. Toure has also shown he can produce on the field. In the preseason, he was the team’s leading receiver. While it was a small sample size and many of those yards came against 2nd and 3rd-string players, it does show some promise for the 7th-round pick. If Toure can turn into a contributor on offense, it will be another hit for Brian Gutekunst in the 2022 draft.
The Packers need something to change on Sunday. Especially with Lazard out, Aaron Rodgers is going to have to find someone else to make big catches in big moments. The Packers will need to be on top of their game if they are going to be competitive against the Bills on Sunday night.
