The Green Bay Packers have an all-important clash against NFC North rivals Chicago Bears this Saturday at Soldier Field.
On the line is a ticket to the next round of the NFL playoffs, and Green Bay wide receiver Christian Watson can be expected to have a major role for his team, particularly on the Packers’ Jordan Love-led passing attack.
Watson missed several weeks in the 2025 NFL season, as he needed time to recover from his ACL injury and from the surgery to address it in the offseason. He made his season debut in Week 8 against Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and since then has become an integral part of Green Bay’s offense.
Despite the challenges that Watson’s injury presented, the former North Dakota State star wide receiver, in the eyes of ESPN’s Field Yates, “has played the best football of his career.”
Packers’ Watson turning heads with play since return from serious injury
That is high praise not just for Watson’s abilities on the field, but his character as well. It took a great deal of patience and perseverance for Watson to play at the form he is playing at this season. Despite missing the first seven weeks of the season, the 26-year-old Watson finished second on the team with 611 receiving yards and tied for the most touchdown catches with six. He also had35 catches on 55 targets in 109 games played in the regular season.
Watson could be a problem for Chicago’s defense in the upcoming playoff showdown. It can be recalled that he racked up 89 receiving yards and two touchdowns on four receptions and four targets in Green Bay’s 28-21 win at Lambeau Field in Week 14.
