The Bye Week is mercifully here for the Green Bay Packers. At 5-8, they need a lot to go there way if they are to make the Playoffs, but it begins and ends with them taking care of their own business. However, with the late Bye Week comes questions about the future. Will Aaron Rodgers be back in 2023? On Monday, Brian Gutekunst met with the media, and Kyle Malzhan of WFRV Local 5 in Green Bay asked him if running the organization is difficult given Rodgers’ uncertain future. Gute’s answer was very reflective.
Great Quarterback Play Has Its Price
Here is the video of Brian Gutekunst’s answer to Malzhan’s question:
#Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst talked this afternoon for the first time since Training Camp. I asked Gutey if it's hard to operate as an organization when he doesn't know if his starting quarterback will return next year?

Perhaps the ending quote on this video is the most important for fans to keep in mind: “Whatever comes with having great quarterbacks is worth it.”
Of course, Gutekunst was hit with many questions about both Rodgers and Jordan Love. After all, Love’s performance against the Philadelphia Eagles was quite impressive. It left many wondering if the Packers might decide to move on from Rodgers after this season. Rodgers himself stated there needs to be “mutual interest” if he is to return in 2023.
When asked if he wanted Rodgers back, Gutekunst responded: “It’ll be an offseason decision for this spring. Surely, yeah. We want all our guys back. We made a big commitment to him this offseason, so that was important.” He also said he has seen enough to decide whether or not to pick up Jordan Love’s fifth year option. However, he did not say what that decision would be.
There is going to be a great deal of debate between fans on whether the Packers should stick with Rodgers or move onto Love. But let’s look at it this way: picking between two good quarterbacks is a GREAT problem to have.
