The Green Bay Packers could only blame themselves for their 31-27 loss to Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears in last Saturday’s NFC Wild Card Round game at Soldier Field in Chicago.
The win was there for the taking for Green Bay against a fierce NFC North archrival. With a double-digit lead heading into the fourth quarter, the Packers had a huge cushion to take care of before what would have been an easy win against the Bears.
Instead, they are now facing lots of questions in the aftermath of their meltdown in the Windy City.
Angry Packers fans target McManus after debacle against the Bears
Among those who have been taking the brunt of Green Bay fans’ anger is kicker Brandon McManus, who missed both field goal attempts and went just 3-for-4 on extra-point tries against the Bears.
Following the game, McManus faced reporters in the locker room.
Via a social media post on X by Cameron Ezeir of WFRV Local 5 Sports:
After three missed kicks, #Packers kicker Brandon McManus did not mince words on his performance and how bad he feels for his teammates.
“It’s the most disappointing part of my career ever.”
Fans didn’t hold back on McManus with their comments.
“Excommunnicado in green bay,” said a fan on X.
Another one said: “Go be a disappointment for another team, please.”
From a commenter: “Get ready to learn Canadian buddy”
“I don’t wanna see this guy in a packers uniform ever again.,” a social media user posted.
Via a different commenter: “[Expletive] this clown. Ruined everything. Now we have to listen to Chicago fans gloat like they’re actually better than us.”
Said another: “It’s not the most disappointing. When you get fired tomorrow will be the most disappointing.”
The 2025 season was the second of McManus with Green Bay, and it will be interesting to see whether the Packers will keep him after the disaster he had against the Bears.
Green Bay signed McManus, who missed games in the regular season due to an injury, to a three-year, $15.3 million contract extension in March 2025.
