The Green Bay Packers are one of the hottest teams in football, and after the Buffalo Bills’ throttling of the NFC North rival Detroit Lions, may have the pieces in place to make an unexpected run to the Super Bowl.
If that happens, if the Packers continue this hot streak and head coach Matt LaFleur’s team can go on a run in the postseason, perhaps even knocking off the now decimated by injuries Lions, Green Bay would be what stands in the way of All-Pro pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson’s chance of returning to the field this season.
Hutchinson, who suffered a season-ending injury back in Week 6, revealed that should the Lions make the Super Bowl, he’s on track in his recovery and rehab to play in the game.
“I’m on track for my goal of returning for the Super Bowl,” Hutchinson said, during an appearance on the Taylor Lautner Podcast. “And so, I keep telling all the boys when I see them in the (Lions) facility, ‘you’ve just to get there. And I promise you I’m going to be back’.”
Prior to getting injured, Hutchinson had already posted 7.5 sacks through the season’s first five-plus games, underscoring his impact along the Lions’ front-seven and Detroit’s championship trajectory.
A Super Bowl return would be a Herculean feat for Hutchinson, who suffered a broken shin, an injury that typically has a 4-to-6 week timetable for recovery.
However, given that the Lions have started 29 different players on defense and have a litany of players currently on injured reserve, a Hutchinson return could prove monumental for the Lions, if they get that far.
Green Bay may have something to say about that, if they can keep up their recent torrid stretch of play.
