It was announced on Saturday morning that the Green Bay Packers made an addition to their practice squad, specifically at the kicker position.
They signed Ramiz Ahmed as a necessary addition should anything happen to Mason Crosby.
Crosby is coming off the second worst year in field goal kicking only converting 73% of his field goal attempts a year ago.
On top of that, he just recently came off the Physically Unable to Perform list after battling a right knee injury
Ahmed put on a good performance in preseason making all three of his field goal attempts and all three extra points in his two preseason games.
Ahmed was originally an un-drafted free agent in 2019 that bounced around for a while. He briefly participated in training camp with the Chicago Bears in 2020 before going to the USFL.
He played for the Pittsburgh Maulers and holds the USFL record for the longest field goal made, making a 61 yarder.
Packers special teams will be quite a spectacle to keep an eye on this season, and that includes kicker.
