The Green Bay Packers have gotten some big assists from their former stars of late – and at the expense of the Detroit Lions.
After Aaron Rodgers led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 29-24 win in Week 15 over the Lions, which improved the Packers’ odds of clinching a spot in the playoffs, the Minnesota Vikings defeated Dan Campbell’s squad on Thursday, 23-10 – a victory that officially secured a ticket to the postseason for Green Bay.
Former Packers star had a hand in Green Bay’s playoff clincher in Week 17
In the Vikings’ win, former Packers running back Aaron Jones did his part by putting the first points on the board on a 1-yard rushing touchdown in the opening quarter.

Jones even leaped into the stands after finding the end zone, as though he was back at Lambeau Field.
Jones finished the game with just 53 rushing yards on 18 carries, but he had a touchdown that Packers fans certainly loved seeing.
That TD was just the second in the 2025 NFL season for Jones and first since Week 10’s Vikings loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Jones will be able to share the field with his former team in Week 18, when the Vikings host Green Bay.
Speaking of the Ravens, the Packers have a date with Baltimore this Saturday at Lambeau Field. Green Bay can also return the favor to Rodgers with a win in that contest, as a loss by the Ravens in Week 17 will give the Steelers the AFC North title and a place in the NFL playoffs.
