Former Green Bay Packers star running back Aaron Jones Sr. is not having a particularly great 2025 NFL season with the Minnesota Vikings. It just got worse for him, as he suffered an apparent upper-body injury during the Vikings’ embarrassing 26-0 loss on the road against the Seattle Seahawks.
The 30-year-old Jones suffered an injury in the second half and did not return.
“Kevin O’Connell said it’s a hip flexor injury for Ryan Kelly. Aaron Jones will be evaluated for a shoulder injury,” reported Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune via a social media post on X.
Former Packers RB dealt with troubling injury in Week 13

Like the rest of the Vikings’ offense, Jones couldn’t get much going on the field versus the Seahawks. He turned six carries into three rushing yards and only converted the four targets into 22 receiving yards on four catches. In Week 12’s 23-6 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, Jones rushed for 41 yards on nine attempts while catching three of four targets for just 16 receiving yards.
Jones’ injury could keep him away from the action in Week 14, when the Vikings play host to the Washington Commanders at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. But assuming that his injury is not all that serious, Jones, who signed a two-year extension deal with Minnesota in March, will have ample time to recover in time for the Week 18 meeting with the Packers in Minneapolis.
Jones and the Vikings are at the bottom of the NFC North standings with a 4-8 record, while Green Bay is 8-3-1.
