One Player the Packers Should Trade Up for

    Gute

The NFL draft is coming up and the combine has concluded. Of course, Brian Gutekunst was present to talk to and get a close look at prospects. The Packers are picking at 28 this year but now hold the Raiders pick at 22 as well. They also have picks 53 and 59. Could they move up? Brian Gutekunst isn’t scared to move around in the draft as he’s traded up in the first round three of his four years as GM. There is plenty of talent in this draft, but there is one player that’s truly worth trading high up for, and that player is Jordan Davis.

    Why Jordan Davis?

Jordan Davis has currently tested as the most athletic defensive tackle in the #RAS database, with his 20 split unofficial.

Jordan Davis was arguably the most dominant defensive player in college football last season. He was the anchor of Georgia’s championship defense. Davis is 6′ 6″ and weighs in at 341 pounds. Even with his massive frame, he ran a 4.78-second 40-yard dash. Jordan Davis is a rare athlete and the numbers prove it. He had a RAS (Raw Athletic Score) of 10. This is important because Brian Gutekunst has a tendency to draft players with high RAS scores. He’s exactly the type of player Brian Gutekunst looks for.

First-roud picks in the Brian Gutekunst era

    Jaire Alexander: 9.54 RAS
    Rashan Gary: 9.95 RAS
    Darnell Savage: 8.35 RAS
    Jordan Love: 8.46 RAS
    Eric Stokes: 9.38 RAS

Savage would be better, but he's a touch undersized. And Love is a "toolsy" prospect.

    BG has a type.

    What it Would Take

Obviously, after trading Davnate Adams the Packers have a hole at wide receiver. They can still address the position in the first round while also making a trade to acquire Davis. Ideally, they could have a guy like Chris Olave fall into their lap at 22, and then pair pick 28 with pick 53 to move into the top 20 or 15.

Jordan Davis would solidify an already stout defense. Pairing Kenny Clark with another strong presence inside should be a priority for Green Bay.
