Since 2008, the NHL has regularly been playing games at outdoor venues. Titled the NHL Stadium Series, the event allows the NHL to attract large numbers of people. It has been so successful that they have continued to do a couple every year. One outlet thinks that Lambeau Field would be a great venue for the NHL Stadium Series.
NHL Stadium Series: Lambeau Field?
While the state of Wisconsin does not have an NHL team, the Minnesota Wild and the Chicago Blackhawks have many fans in the state. Lambeau Field is also an iconic sports venue. It has been nicknamed the Frozen Tundra which would be perfect for a hockey game. The most recent game was in Raleigh, North Carolina and the temperatures were fairly mild. Green Bay would give a great atmosphere for a game like this. The event would also likely draw a big crowd and have no issues selling out.
Could This Actually Happen?
Anything is possible but in the near future it might be unlikely. The Blackhawks have been featured in the series a lot in the past and they just entered a rebuild meaning they are not likely to be good for awhile. Not having an actual team hurts the possibility but the allure of Lambeau would probably be enough to have the NHL give it a chance.

Nothing is official but it is something to watch out for in the coming seasons. Green Bay has played host to multiple special events with a lot of success. Hopefully the NHL will take notice and bring this awesome event to the state of Wisconsin.
