EA Sports has come out with its initial round of ratings for the highly-anticipated Madden 2024 game. As expected, there have been all sorts of reactions from players and fans alike.
EA Sports and the NFL teamed up to come out with a hilarious segment wherein they reveal the players’ ratings while the said players were hooked up to a lie detector. A bunch of rookie wide receivers were put to the test, including Green Bay Packers newcomer Jayden Reed.
NFL Rookies’ Hilarious Reactions To Madden 2024 Ratings
Jaxson Smith-Njigba of the Minnesota Vikings was the first player on the stand, and while he initially agreed with his 87 catching rating, the 21-year-old quickly changed his tone when the lie detector revealed that he was not being truthful:
“87’s cool, I mean there’s room to work,” Smith-Njigba said. “… Yeah, it’s not cool. It’s not, it’s not.”
Up next was Quentin Johnston of the Los Angeles Charges. The former TCU standout wasn’t flustered at all by the fact that he was given an 81 rating for his catching:
“Okay. We gone get it up,” Johnston said. “I’m not worried about that.”
The Minnesota Vikings’ Jordan Addison had a bit of a different approach when he learned that he had an 82 rating for his catching:
“I only had one drop on the year, but…” Addison said. “… Y’all gotta figure some things out.”
As for Zay Flowers of the Balitmore Ravens, the rookie wasn’t a hundred percent in agreement with his 80 catching rating. When told that it was still pretty good and could be considered “eligible to play,” Flowers clapped back with a straightforward response:
“I don’t like that,” Flowers responded. “We’re above eligible… (We want to be) in the Dean’s List.”
The New York Giants’ third-round pick, Jalin Hyatt, also took the stand. He gave himself an 83 rating for catching, which is why he was pleased to learn that he actually got an 84.

It was a pretty fun exercise, and it gave us all a preview of the type of mindset these rookies have.
Packers Rookie Jayden Reed Reacts To 81 Catching Rating
For his part, Packers rookie Jayden Reed received an 81 rating for his catching in traffic. The former Western Michigan and Michigan State star admitted that he wasn’t too pleased with the rating:
“It could go up,” he said. “I gotta show something first.”
Packers fans will love the attitude of this young man. He’s not exactly a superstar in the making, but it does seem that his head is in the right place.
