Sammy Watkins and Allen Lazard figure to be the Packers’ top candidates for wide receiver number one for the 2022 season. Meanwhile, It may take a few years for Christian Watson or Romeo Doubs to turn into a potential top tier threat in this league. As a result, the Packers remain a perfect candidate for a blockbuster trade in the NFL. Vegas still thinks that the Packers have some of the best odds in the NFL to trade for pro bowl wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
Terry McLaurin to the Green Bay Packers?
NFL ODDS ON TERRY MCLAURIN’S NEXT TEAM*
Colts: +200 (bet $10 to win $30 total)
Packers: +300 (bet $10 to win $40 total)
Ravens: +450 (bet $10 to win $55 total)
Chiefs: +550 (bet $10 to win $65 total)
49ers: +700 (bet $10 to win $80 total)
Bears: +900 (bet $10 to win $100 total)
*Odds as of 6/13/2022
Terry McLaurin has certainly established himself as one of the best wide receivers in the NFC. Over the first three years of his NFL career he has accumulated 222 receptions, 3,090 yards, and 16 touchdowns. He has done so with Case Keenum, Dwayne Haskins, Colt McCoy, Alex Smith, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Taylor Heinicke at quarterback.
Terry McLaurin is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Therefore, he could be the next wide receiver to get a huge pay day. Therefore If the Washington Commanders want to lock him up long term it will likely cost over 20 million per year. Ben Standig of the Athletic reported that “sources on both sides anticipate intensified extensions talks for Terry McLaurin starting around or after the NFL draft.” The draft has come and gone and now McLaurin is sitting out of mandatory mini camp:
Washington WR Terry McLaurin does not plan to attend this week’s mandatory minicamp, per source. McLaurin is continuing to seek a contract extension consistent with other comparable WRs that recently signed; until he has it, he will miss reps with new Washington QB Carson Wentz.
