The 2023 NFL off-season has been a wild one so far, to say the least. It has seen multiple franchise players sign long-term deals or find new homes. Aaron Rodgers found a new home in New York, Lamar Jackson stayed put in Baltimore, the Chicago Bears received a haul for trading the number one overall pick to the Carolina Panthers, and DeAndre Hopkins is currently looking for a new home after being released by the Cardinals. There could be one more massive trade on the way, and it involves one of the Green Bay Packers’ biggest rival. (NFL News)
Minnesota Vikings Exploring A Massive Trade Involving Dalvin Cook And The Miami Dolphins
The likelihood of the Minnesota Vikings and Dalvin Cook parting ways seems to become more of a reality day by day. The team that is, seemingly, most attached to acquiring Cook is the Miami Dolphins. There are reasons for this, including the fact that Cook is from South Florida and likely wouldn’t mind an opportunity to return home. On top of that, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated: The two sides were, reportedly, “this close” to completing a deal for Cook back in March. (NFL News)
A deal back in March would have resulted in the Minnesota Vikings taking on a greater financial burden than they will now that the June 1st has passed as far as a trade is concerned. The Vikings would much rather trade Dalvin Cook and get something in return rather than releasing him for nothing.
The Pat McAfee Show Has Gone As Far As Say It’s A “Done Deal” (NFL News)
Ian Rapoport appeared on The Pat McAfee Show to talk the Cook to Miami rumors. He disputed the “done deal” rumors but certainly implied that the Dolphins have been interested in the veteran running back for quite some time. It would behoove the Dolphins to get a deal done prior to the Vikings releasing him due to the competition they would face on the open market for him. The New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys have both been identified has suitors for the veteran running back.
