A Green Bay Packers divisional rival has yet another player under investigation, per a new report that broke Friday morning. The Detroit Lions had four players suspended in April for violating the NFL’s policy on gambling.
A Green Bay Packers rival is under investigation
According to a report by Kalyn Kahler with The Athletic, the Lions now have a fifth player facing scrutiny from the NFL in connection to gambling:
“The Athletic is not naming the player at this time because the investigation is ongoing. The player currently under investigation was not a prominent member of the 2022 team. He has yet to be interviewed by the league’s investigator. The player’s agent declined to comment when reached by The Athletic, as did spokespersons for the NFL, NFLPA and the Lions.”
The Detroit Lions have had a distracting offseason

The silver lining for the Lions in the report is that the player is supposedly not critical to the team’s season. Most of the Lions players who have been suspended so far are not starters. However, they lost 2022 first-round pick, wide receiver Jameson Williams for the first six regular season games due to the league’s finding reported in April. While this potential suspension might not be a huge blow to the team, it’s another distraction in an offseason where they are currently favored to win the NFC North.
