A recent Tweet from a 2023 Green Bay Packers opponent should motivate the team in Week 13. Quarterback Jordan Love will have the opportunity to get his revenge on the Kansas City Chiefs. But one defender wants to make a statement this season, and the Packers will need to be on full alert.
Defensive tackle Chris Jones didn’t do much to the stat sheet when Love played the Chiefs in 2021. Jones earned two total tackles in the Chiefs’ 13-7 win over the Packers.
Jones had a much better season overall in 2022 than he had in 2021. His 15.5 sacks were a major reason the Chiefs’ defensive line was one of the top pass-rushing units in the league. That helped propel the team to a Super Bowl win.
Chris Jones’ message should alert the Green Bay Packers
Jones has bigger plans for the 2023 season. On Wednesday night, Jones Tweeted that he planned to win the NFL’s defensive player of the year award.
I’ll win DPOY this year

Nick Bosa won the DPOY award for the 2022 season. The San Francisco 49ers defender did so by recording 18.5 sacks.
Jordan Love will need to get his protection right
Jones wants to play on that level this season. And he has the skills to make it happen. The Packers’ offensive line will need to be ready for their Week 13 matchup against Jones if they want to keep Love off the turf. Keeping Love healthy, and winning that late-season game, could be the difference in making the playoffs or not.
One of the biggest hurdles Love will have to face in his transition year is setting and understanding the protection for the offensive line. By Week 13, Love should have enough regular-season game experience under his belt to be ready for a harsh pass rush. However, he and the Packers should remember Jones’ mentality coming into that game.
Jones means business.
