Many have speculated that Aaron Rodgers and several other former Green Bay Packers players will appear on this year’s “Hard Knocks” with the New York Jets. NBC Sports reported that the New York Jets were “bracing” to be chosen to appear on the show, but there had been no official announcement. Mark Murphy confirmed that report:
In his monthly column for Packers.com, Murphy answered a question on Green Bay potentially appearing on “Hard Knocks” in the future. He spoke about the pros and cons of being featured on the show but then gave away a clue about this year’s season.
Murphy wrote: “I’m anxious to see the Jets and the many ex-Packers on “Hard Knocks” this summer – should be very entertaining.”

Each NFL preseason brings fans a new season of HBO’s Hard Knocks. The compelling docuseries takes a behind-the-scenes look at one franchise as it prepares for the upcoming season and makes some tough roster decisions to whittle the team down to 53 active roster players. This year it would appear that Aaron Rodgers will be under the microscope for this series.
Since 2014, teams have been exempt from being the focus of that year’s Hard Knocks season if they have a first year head coach, have been a playoff team in the last two seasons or if they’ve appeared on Hard Knocks in the last decade. The New York Jets fit all the criteria, unfortunately.
